A warm welcome to Anabezi Camp! The newest addition to the Dulini portfolio brings a commitment to luxury and conservation to Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park-a region celebrated for its authentic wilderness and breathtaking beauty. This new Chapter blends the unrivaled elegance of our sabi Sand heritage (in South Africa’s Kruger National Park) with the untamed beauty of one of Africa’s most pristine wilderness areas.

Located in the remote eastern corner of Lower Zambezi, Anabezi Camp offers an authentic safari experience in one of Africa’s most unique ecosystems. Set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi, River, in the heart of the iconic Winterthorn Forest, this tented camp features 12 luxury suites. Each tent includes a private viewing deck and plunge pool, and is designed to immerse guests in the surrounding wilderness Sabi Sand and Lower Zambezi now offer a safari pairing like no other.

Zambia itself is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets, offering pristine landscapes and a sense of solitude that’s increasingly rare. With its warm hospitality. rich biodiversity, and unspoilt wilderness, it’s a destination that rewards those who seek authenticity and adventure. This expansion into the Lower Zambezi allows Dulini to introduce more travellers to the magic of Zambia.

The camp is built on an elevated boardwalk which connects each luxury tented suite to two main areas with their own respective swimming pools. The elevated boardwalk allows for wildlife to roam freely throughout camp while minimizing effects on the ecosystem. It also means guests can walk around safely during the day without an escort. Elephants, buffalo, antelope – and even the occasional lion or leopard – often pass through camp, allowing you to experience wildlife from the comfort of your room. These communal areas evoke a classic African style with a modern touch, providing guests the opportunity to experience Lower Zambezi and its wilderness while relaxing at camp.  As the sun sets and nightlife of the bush comes to life, we invite guests to sit by the camp fire with a sundowner and share stories of their sightings with fellow visitors.

As its namesake implies, the Zambezi Deck provides sweeping views of the Zambezi River and the floodplain, with daily visits from elephants, buffalo, impala, waterbuck, warthogs and a variety of birds. Watch the wildlife from the swimming pool, while you’re having lunch or from one of the many lounging areas and take in the surrounding landscape. It’s not uncommon to get up close views of elephants drinking, bathing and crossing the Zambezi River to one of its many islands.

Home to Anabezi’s second swimming pool, the Mushika Deck offers a full bar and sweeping views of the Mushika River floodplain. A nearby watering hole attracts wildlife like resident elephants and buffalos, warthogs bathing in the mud, antelope and the Anabezi Troop of Baboons, making it an ideal spot for wildlife viewing.

Anabezi is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River on the Eastern End of Lower Zambezi National Park in the heart of the iconic Winterthorn Forest. With a sparse number of camps on this end of the park, sightings are often exclusive with few to no other vehicles, allowing for minimum impact on the wildlife and a more private guest experience. The area boasts a high density of leopard for its size, and is sometimes referred to as the Sabi Sands of Zambia. Large populations of elephants and buffalo roam the forest and the banks of the Zambezi along with our resident pride of lions and resident pack of painted dogs move up and down the length of the park, with Chakwenga being one of their designated hunting grounds. When they are in the area, this pack provides truly exceptional sightings.

Anabezi is an environmentally conscious camp running on 90% solar power. Anabezi prioritized sustainability by using ceiling fans instead of air conditioning during the warm nights of the dry season. Offering reusable water bottles, using locally sourced produce and  providing plant-based menu options upon request are just a few of the ways we embrace an environmentally friendly.

Unwind with a deep tissue massage or full body scrub, or freshen up with a manicure and pedicure. One of our dedicated spa practitioners will create a full self-care experience in your room.

Immerse yourself in nature by land or by water. Anabezi will take you on an epic journey through the Zambezi Valley with exclusive, up-close wildlife encounters.Cats head out to hunt, hyenas emerge with empty stomachs, and civets and genets scurry about. This is what makes night drives so special: the chance to see what happens after dark in true wilderness. These drives are kept short – night is also a time to allow nature to take its course unbothered, but you will have the opportunity to see some exceptional moments under the stars on your way back to camp.

Walking Safari

Zambia is widely considered the birthplace of the walking safari, pioneered by legendary conservationist Norman Carr. Herein lies the opportunity to get out of the vehicle and explore the bush on foot, accompanied by a top-level professional guide and an armed National Parks Wildlife Officer. This unique and exhilarating safari provides insight into the complex ecosystem of the bush, allowing you to expand your knowledge and meet some of the smaller creatures often missed on a drive. Zambia is one of only a handful of destinations where walking safaris are permitted in national parks without private concessions.

Water safari

Cruising down the Zambezi river allows you to experience Lower Zambezi from a different perspective. At eye level with the rich aquatic ecosystem, watch elephants bath and swim from island to island, G&T in hand, while the sun sets behind the escarpment. You’ll also spot buffalo, crocodiles, hippos, and antelope perched on the river bank floating in our custom-fitted pontoon boats.

Fishing

For those in pursuit of the legendary african tigerfish, the Zambezi River rarely disappoints. Experienced fishermen and novices alike will enjoy heading out on an afternoon fishing trip with one of our seasoned coxswains, full of expert advice and an unparalleled knowledge of this stretch of the river. While we provide all the necessary rods and tackle for Spinner and Lure fishing, anglers who specialize in Fly should bring their own equipment.

Canoeing

Paddle the winding waterways of the channels, pausing for hippos and watching elephants. The Zambezi River is one of Africa’s top canoeing safari destinations, where you can enjoy the peacefulness of the water while observing its vibrant wildlife. All canoeing activities are with an experienced, certified professional guide.

Birding

Common bird sightings in Lower Zambezi include a wide array of storks, herons, bee-eaters, owls, eagles, and kingfishers to name a few.  You don’t need to be an ornithologist to appreciate the incredible beauty of our bird life, but we do recommend binoculars for best viewing.  If you are an experienced birder let us know so we can be sure to pair you with one of our expert birding guides.

Roam the forests where elephants eat from the trees, cruise across the plains with massive herds of buffalo, and catch a glimpse of leopards moving through the grass in a customized open game viewer. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are timed when wildlife is most active, and some of the animals you can expect to see include elephants, buffalo, zebra, leopards, lions, painted dogs (also called wild dogs), kudu, waterbuck,  and hippos along with a vast array of other species.
