Leobo Private Reserve is 12,000 acres of stunning bush overlooking the Palala Valley and offers a completely free and flexible experience with quads, horse riding, game drives, fishing, fly camping and star gazing just some of the options available here. The Observatory was designed by award winning architects and it really shows, this house is stunning complete with comfy and cosy roof deck and an immaculate adult hippo skeleton hung and lit above the dining table.
The reserve has an abundance of wildlife although none of the big five, making it very safe for families as the children can explore and learn about the bush from Leobo’s expert guides in absolute safety. The reserve also boasts some archeological significance and bushman paintings.
The lodge itself sits on top of the escarpment and the view are magical. The whole place is only ever taken on exclusive use so you can rest assured you wont see another soul.

Leobo Private Reserve is a completely private 20,000 acre estate based in the beautiful Waterberg mountains, 3 hours drive north of Johannesburg and home to Leobo Lodge, which exudes a rustic luxury atmosphere and has sweeping views of the Palala Valley below and of the horizon.
We don’t offer time-tabled game drives, rigid programs or meals at set times. Of course you can go on game drives whenever you like, day or night – whenever suits you. But Leobo Reserve is for people who want a bit more out of life than a bunch of Kodak shots of the Big Five. You can do anything if you like…Just ask!
