Suyian Lodge opening July 2025
Fulfilling a long-held vision to deepen our impact in Kenya, we’re excited to announce our expansion into the northwest region of Laikipia on the magnificent Suyian Conservancy in partnership with global conservation charity Space for Giants. Framed by the majestic Ewaso Narok River on its eastern edge and the snow-capped silhouette of Mt Kenya as its backdrop, it is here that our new Suyian Lodge finds its perfect home. Nestled amidst 44,000 acres of private wilderness land, the lodge boasts just 14 suites, including a family suite, ensuring an unforgettable and intimate safari.
Named after the African wild dog in the local Maa language, Suyian Conservancy in Laikipia encompasses 44 000 acres (17 806 hectares). Transformed from pure cattle ranching, today, Suyian combines rapidly evolving conservation practices with community development and is home to one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in the country, with rarities including the black (melanistic) leopard and other northern Kenyan species like the Grevy’s zebra and gerenuk.
Experiences abound on the conservancy
Choose from day and night game drives, walking safaris, camel and horseback safaris, active ranching tours, and catch-and-release fishing. Become immersed in the local Samburu culture on a community visit or indulge in a scenic helicopter flight.
An unrivalled wellness journey awaits
The wellness centre boasts two treatment rooms with striking views of the conservancy, each with a private shower, changing area and veranda. A steam room with a cold plunge pool, and a compact gym and yoga studio completes the offering.
Set in the heart of the Rock Sanctuary
Drawing inspiration from the Rock Sanctuary’s undulating kopjes, etched with whispers of the past in the form of rock art, the lodge’s location and its curved form, echo the rhythm of the ancient ridge, seamlessly integrating with the environment.
Tribute to the local Samburu tribe
Capturing the spirit of the area, the lodge interior reflects the Afro Wabi-Sabi sentiment of taking pleasure in the transient nature of earthly things. Subtle cultural touches infuse with modest luxury, paying homage to the region’s Samburu heritage.
