The iconic wildlife encounters in July are exceptional, as the great wildebeest migration sees more than two million animals trekking across the Serengeti in search of green pastures to graze upon. This is also one of the most popular times to visit the Serengeti, because it has the best weather and lowest amount of rainfall. The bears in Alaska are in search of Salmon, the Jaguars prowl the wetlands of Brazil, and the whale viewing in the Pacific Ocean is second to none. As well as this you can see a plethora of big game as you cruise next to crocs down Botswana’s Okavango Delta, or visit a whole island dedicated to Australia’s national animal – The kangaroo!

Top Tips:

Alaska is world renowned for its large population of grizzly bears. Sightings are never guaranteed as this is determined by the runs of salmon each year, but Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, Alaska, is where you can expect to see them.

The humpback whales arrive in French Polynesia, and off the Colombian coast in the Pacific Ocean, during the cool months of July, to give birth to their calves. This really is a wonderful time to spot them, as they migrate north into the South Pacific waters from their summer feeding grounds in New Zealand.

In July, the herds of wildebeest reach the northern Serengeti plains in Tanzania, before moving to the Masai Mara in Kenya for the famous river crossing of the Mara River. The great wildebeest migration sees more than two million animals trekking across the Serengeti in search of green pastures to graze upon. This is one of the best times to witness this incredible event.
